“Climb to Glory” Legacy of the 10th Mountain Ski Troopers

We collaborated with Wish of a Lifetime and The Colorado Ski Museum to produce a special 45-minute documentary that tells the story of the 10th Mountain Division Ski Troopers and how they transformed the U.S. Ski Industry after World War II.

This documentary tells the story of the 10^th Mountain Division Ski Troopers and how they transformed the U.S. Ski Industry after World War II. These heroes came back from war as pioneering individuals and helped build the industry from resort development to ski instruction. “Climb to Glory” highlights their astounding impact to our country and the ski industry, while incorporating the fun and flair of traditional Warren Miller films. This premiere will not only feature this never-before-seen documentary, but it will give guests the opportunity to meet and greet original 10^th Mountain Division members. This premiere will also include live music from Denver’s own, The Moderators, question and answer session with the ski troopers, and a raffle session. All contributions to the event will go to both Wish of a Lifetime and The Colorado Ski & Snowboard Museum.

Thursday, January 17 at The Oriental Theatre in Denver, CO. Doors open at 6pm, Premiere begins 7pm

Wish of a Lifetime was founded in 2008 by two-time Olympic skier, World Cup gold-medalist, entrepreneur and former NFL football player Jeremy Bloom. This organization aims to spread inspirational stories of hope by granting lifelong wishes to seniors ages 65 years and older who have overcome tremendous challenges in their lives. Since 2008, Wish of a Lifetime has made more than 400 hundred wishes come true for seniors, two of them being 10^th Mountain Division members, Wish of Lifetime is more than delighted to promote this premiere with The Colorado Ski & Snowboard Museum. Founded in 1976, The Colorado Ski & Snowboard Museum has been passionately dedicated to safeguarding the spirit and evolution of snow sports and their contributions to Colorado’s History. This non-profit organization oversees a statewide Research and Artifact Collection Facility, programs to preserve the history of the 10^th Mountain Division, a museum that serves the State of Colorado and Vail Community, and the Colorado Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame.

Bring a Friend Challenge

Current skiers and snowboarders have numerous opportunities to earn rewards this winter for helping newcomers sign up for beginner lessons from professional instructors at local venues throughout the U.S. Those who qualify for the Bring a Friend Challenge can win trips to fabulous destination resorts as well as skis, snowboards and accessories.

HEAD Wintersports, RAMP, skis.com, and snowboards.org are among numerous companies and organizations providing prizes. Full details are available at bringafriend.org. Newcomers also have an incentive for learning how to ski or snowboard by taking lessons from professional instructors. The trips are for a current participant and the newcomer he/she introduced. Newcomers must show proof of having taken a beginner lesson. Current participants and newcomers must qualify to win. Rules are posted on the BAF Web site.

Bring a Friend is a companion program of Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month which is celebrating its fifth season this winter. During January, participating ski and snowboard areas provide special beginner learning packages taught by professional instructors. Offers vary. Most are discounted and some are free. Details are at skiandsnowboardmonth.org.

The Bring a Friend Challenge is not limited to January although many Bring a Friend offers will be available during that month. The Challenge starts December 17, 2012 and runs through March 17, 2013. Weekly product prize drawings start the first week in January 2013. Trip prizes will be drawn after the contest ends. Trips are for the 2013-14 season.

Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month is an industry initiative organized by numerous state and regional resort associations, the Professional Ski Instructors of America-American Association of Snowboard Instructors, SnowSports Industries America, the National Ski Patrol, U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association, SnoCountry Ski Areas Association, the National Ski Areas Association, industry organizations and businesses and the snow sports media.
